meet laurie

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Laurie’s obsession with all things skin began there when she had her first facial at sixteen. Upon graduating from the University of Washington, she went to work for a local high-end salon and spa chain (Gene Juarez Salons & Spas) as their marketing assistant. While this position furthered her love for aesthetics, it also sent her in the direction of special event coordination, which she did for the next 10+ years in both Seattle and Tulsa, Oklahoma where she relocated in 1998 to be closer to family.

After directing many well-known and local events in Tulsa such as the Greater Tulsa Home & Garden Show and Oktoberfest, she decided to follow her interests and went back to school to study aesthetics in 2007. Upon graduating from Clary Sage College, she went on to work in the treatment room as well as in sales, business development and as an educator for both Dermalogica and Cosmedix skincare.

After meeting the love of her life, Laurie moved to Amelia Island in 2011 and began working at the Ritz Carlton spa and for Cosmedix skincare as their East Coast Educator. She soon saw the need for a local skincare professional that could provide effective and relaxing treatments at non-resort spa prices. In 2017, L. Moore Aesthetics was created.

Laurie offers a comprehensive yet simple approach to skincare. On your first visit to her skincare studio, she will discuss your health, your lifestyle, what you have used for skincare, what you’re currently using and what your concerns, if any, might be. From there she will perform a thorough analysis of your skin prior to your treatment. Upon completion of your first treatment, you will receive samples of products best suited for your skin along with instructions and a suggested treatment plan. She will work with you to find what is best for you to ensure easy and effective results. Skincare. Simplified.

Outside of her business, Laurie is happily married to her rock-star, bass-playing husband Rich (owner of Moore Landscapes) and mother to an energetic daughter (Francesca). A lapsed cyclist and runner, she likes to occasionally torture herself by participating in athletic fund-raising events such as the Katie Ride, MS150 and Team in Training. She can quote most any line from the Star Wars movies and Seinfeld and is an accomplished cook—well-known for her chicken piccata and gingerbread cookies.

Now approaching four years with her small business, Laurie has enjoyed building her clientele, supporting local charities, continuing her education and receiving five-star reviews from those who see her for services.

meet jan

Everyone, meet Jan! Jan Iacovelli is the first person to officially join the team at L. Moore Aesthetics.

Jan is L. Moore Aesthetics’ “Studio Coordinator” and handles appointment bookings/rescheduling, general questions, product and gift card pick up and sales and pretty much everything office related. She is a beautiful, fun and highly organized (thank goodness) person who I am excited to be working with!

A little bit about Jan:

Jan was born in Smithtown, NY she moved to the rural town of Brooklyn, Connecticut when she was 12.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College, she worked in RI at New England Institute of Technology in the Admissions Department for over 15 years where she absolutely LOVED working and helping the students and parents.

Through her brother-in-law, Jan met her husband Scott (a native Australian) who was working in the US. After 6 months, he proposed in Paris, they moved to PA, got married in Thailand (long story) and had two much-loved children; Jack and Anna. Both attend Fernandina Beach High School. Jan is also a favorite of Laurie's daughter, Frankie, who enjoys hanging out with "Ms. Jan".

Jan also volunteers! She has done various volunteer work- her most moving was a trip to Haiti with Soles4Souls Organization where they provided shoes to local children so they could attend school. Locally she is involved with the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Fernandina.

Jan and her family moved to Amelia Island from Durham, NC where she sold Cabi clothing and raised her children. We met at a Barre class at Club 14. We were the two in the back row struggling to keep up and stay balanced. From there she became a client and as L. Moore Aesthetics grew and I realized I needed some assistance; she was looking for some part time work and here we are!

Jan has been such a help to keeping L. Moore Aesthetics running smoothly with day-to-day operations, events, COVID-19 related closures and everything else. Please be sure to get to know her if you haven't already-she is a treat!

meet susan

Meet our new aesthetician-Susan!

L. Moore Aesthetics self-proclaimed “southern belle,” Susan Dowling was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and has been a resident of Amelia Island for the past 21 years. Like Laurie, she had her first facial in her teens to help her with hormonal teen acne issues and from there, a lifelong interest in skincare began as she saw how good skin care practices can lead to lifelong beautiful skin.

Ms. Dowling graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in Interior Design. She also had the opportunity to participate in the University of Georgia study abroad program in Cortona, Italy. It was during that time she explored several ancient spas in Montecatini Terme, even including a spa in her design project. Upon graduation she began her career in interiors which led to a side passion, event planning.

After many years as a successful interior designer and go-to volunteer for local non-profits (animal rescue, St. Michael Academy, and the Trinity Love Hoblit Foundation to name a few), Ms. Dowling felt it was time for a life change and decided to go back to school to start a career in Esthetics. Having been a long-time client of Laurie’s, Ms. Dowling reached out for guidance and mentorship while she graduated the esthetics program at FCCJ at the top of her class and aced her state board exam. She also gives credit to her instructor, Professor Artesia Gordon for her great attitude and motivational teaching style.

Ms. Dowling has continued her education with hands-on training with Laurie and will continue to add to her repertoire of services now that she is settled in at L. Moore Aesthetics. She works with all skin types, specializing on acne treatments for both teens and adults and other challenging skin conditions such as rosacea and aging concerns. Eager to continue to learn and teach others as she learned in her teens, she looks forward to helping island residents correct and preserve their skin.

In her free time, Susan is mother to two active boys; Hamp and Harry and all their activities, lake time and fulfilling her passion for volunteering.

Laurie and the team at L. Moore Aesthetics is so excited to have Susan on board! We look forward to you meeting her and enjoying one of her fabulous treatments.

meet kirsten

In Summer of 2021 we welcomed Kirsten Bocian as part of our Studio Support team. A New England native, Kirsten was born, raised, educated, married, and had her children (phew!!!) in the charming coastal state of Connecticut. Due to her husband’s career, she and her family had an 11-year transfer to a beautiful neighborhood in North Carolina (where she met and became life-long friends with Jan) which eventually brought Kirsten, Jim-her loving husband of over 20 years, their incredibly awesome children, Brita and Gavin, and equally awesome dog, Winston, to Fernandina Beach in 2016.

Kirsten embodies a diverse career background, starting with employment as a certified Medical Assistant for Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons in Hartford, Connecticut, while earning her Psychology degree, followed by working as a counselor for adults with mental disabilities in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. She has also worked as an office manager for a few years in both Connecticut and North Carolina.

After having children, she found herself fortunate enough (thank you, Jim) to stay at home and raise them, all the while happily attending countless school, church, and extracurricular child related functions, loving every single minute and beaming with pride over her kids’ numerous accomplishments. Kirsten enjoyed serving as a volunteer Catholic catechist at their church in North Carolina and earned the esteemed privileged title of “Volunteer of the Year” at her children’s middle school. Upon her initial move to Florida, Kirsten worked for the public school system here in Fernandina Beach for numerous years, initially as a substitute teacher, and, most recently, a Paraprofessional.

Kirsten is excited to embark on her new journey with the team at L. Moore Aesthetics and to meet all our lovely clients and to collaborate with her dear friend, Jan. Her impressive organizational skills, calm demeanor and grace under pressure have already lent a welcome balance to our group at L. Moore Aesthetics.

Welcome, Kirsten!!!
